For this assignment we were supposed to chose and object that we shared an attachment for and design a container to hold it. My object shown above is a miniature tea scene I acquired at an estate sale. It was an additional item I did not realize I purchased because it was in a bin with several items.
The goal of this project was to choose an item we owned and design a container for it. We were tasked with understanding our objects and making sure we were not just designing what we wanted but what was relational to our chosen object.
After several days of observing my object I noticed several things about it.
1. It is a small and delicate object a part of it had already been broken off
2. Because of its delicate nature it seems to need to be displayed while also being protected.
3. The box on the take had a design of a flower
4. The tea pot looks to have some writing on it but I could not figure it out.
Because of the delicate nature I felt that the container needed to have the item on display and also have to be protected. When looking around for inspiration I came across this chair design from Thomas Feicher for the Octagon chair and liked the form so I figured out how to replicate it for my design.
The design on the outside of the container is a design I drew that takes images from the box on the table and replicates it to look like a wall paper design.
